My Best Friend's Girl

Book title: My Best Friend's Girl
Author: Dorothy Koomson
Amount of pages: 434

I've tried so hard not to finish this book in less than two days because I knew I would miss reading it when I am done to the last page. And I was right.

While I was reading this book, I was also watching the movie No Reservations which shares a simliar plot. The movie was good, but reading this book is way better simply because the author managed to bring the readers into the minds of the characters. It's really amazing to find myself smiling and sobbing at the same time from the first page to the last.

My Best Friend's Girl tells of a wonderful bond shared between two friends, Kamryn and Adele. Their friendship was wonderful and genuine and seemed to last forever until the day Kamryn found out that Adele had one night stand with her fiance, Nate. Feeling betrayed, Kamryn cancelled the wedding and fleed to another city to start life anew.

Kamryn began to become someone else - a cold person who refused to fall in love again. She received letters and postcards from Adele but put them aside and never read them. Until one day, her birthday, Adele sent her birthday wishes in a card plus a news that was destined to change her life forever - her best friend was dying and Kamryn was to inherit her child, Tegan.

Well, inheriting a child is already a challenge. What made things harder was the child belongs to Adele and Nate. Every time Kamryn looks at Tegan, she sees Nate smiling back at her. It was as if history is crawling back into her life. How would she cope?

I won't let you know how it ends, of course. If I do, what's the purpose of reading the book?

Go through a rollercoaster ride of emotions with Dorothy Koomson. She has never fail to impress me with her little plots and writing style. I love the way she brings out the characters!
