The Eye (Gin Gwai)
The Eye... not the new one that will be released in 2008, but the one that was released in 2002. Everyone has been talking about it for ages but I've only gotten the chance to watch it an hour ago on TV. Thank god for commercials - otherwise I would be sleeping in front of the sofa because the story was just too slow.
Classical violinist, Kar Mun (starred by Angelica Lee), has the privilege of a corneal transplant that enables her to see the world again. The problem was she doesn't only see the world, she sees another world too - the spiritual ones. She sees dark beings appearing every time death takes place on anyone. She sees other victims who have committed suicide. The freakiest is looking at the mirror and seeing someone else face on your own. I thought that was creative.
Okay, don't mind the plot of the movie because it wasn't an extraordinary one. The film direction, photography mode and camera angles have nothing special to it too. One person you should be paying attention to is Angelica Lee, the star of the show. She is awesome! Her expressions, her moves, her gestures - you would almost believe that she was once blind. A good actress always deserve an applause... and I'm clapping for her good job!
