Botak Jones: U-CRAZY-WHAT?!
Told ya I'll be back at Botak Jones in attempt to gobble down the triple beef patty cheese burger known as U-CRAZY-WHAT?! and that's exactly what I ordered last Saturday when we had dinner there in celebration of my belated birthday. The girl who took my order behind the counter was surprised and tried to hide her smirk. So I topped my order with 3 layers of cheese and the side dishes of broccoli and potato salad. When the triple-deckers arrived, I was delighted.
The broccoli served was crunchy and fresh. It was meant to lessen my guilty of having such a huge beef meal that night. The potato salad tasted slightly different as mustard was blend together with the mayonnaise. I don't like mustard. But the soft cool bites of potatoes melting in my mouth was too irresistible - so mustard or no mustard, I wiped the plate clean. And of course, the burger itself.
"How do you even begin to eat that thing?" asked mom as everyone else at the table stared at the giant burger. The soft seeded bun didn't even find its way up at the top because the burger was simply too tall. At about 1.5-inch thick, each patty balanced beautifully on top of each other strongly held by the generous layer of cheese. I added chili sauce on top of it and simply stared at the burger itself as I spun the plate around thinking how I should indulge in this tower.
First bite - killer thickness! Second bite - it just got messier! Third bite - the patty tasted like a chunk of meatloaf overload. Really, the size was manageable. I actually finished the entire burger. But I had to say that The Double Botak was a more enjoyable meal simply because it has just enough meat to tease me to want more. U-CRAZY-WHAT?! was simply too much to enjoy; too much of the patty to actually taste the richness of the beef.
Having said that, I have one thing to announce: I'll be staying away from burgers for a while. My stomach is too bloated at the moment with overload of rich food. Not to mention that my wallet is thinning and my weight is rocketing sky high. Time to lead an ordinary dining lifestyle. Time to eat healthy. Time to stop eating with my colleagues.
