L: Change the World

Yeahoo! Finally I watched L: Change the World. Been wanting to watch it since it came out in the cinema but somehow couldn't find the time to. Thank god I managed to grab hold of the movie now. I've gotta say that the movie was longer than I thought it was supposed to be. A very slow and steady one indeed.

Seeing Ken’ichi Matsuyama reprising his role as L Lawliet from the previous Death Note films is really mind-blowing. The character L is truly an engaging one that got me hook from the very first series of Death Note movies. The way he feeds on candies and sweets, the way he walks and sits, the way his shoulders fall just like his hair - it's very unusual and outstanding as a character. The writer has moulded his character into a splendid enjoyable one.

L: Change the World is a chronicles of the last 23 days of his life. After the death of Watari, he is pretty much on his own as the day draws closer. Spending his time solving various cases in the world, he unexpectedly comes across a bioterrorist group of criminals whom he has to get physical in order to solve the case. And so, L spends the last few days of his life getting in touch with the outside world and learning how to care for others.

Among one of them is a boy who happens to be the only survivor of an infectious lethal virus spread into a village in Thailand. It's very cute to watch both of them interact in this movie. The way L tries to persuade a child is totally unexpected of him. Then again, there are many things that are unexpected of L in this movie. While L takes the limelight in this installment of Death Note, the rest of the favourites such as Misa Amane, death god Ryuk and Light Yagami have their brief cameos in the story too.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie because I was bewitched by L. As a big fan of L, this movie certainly make justice. Way to go, L!!
