Death Note movies
Death Note has a powerful plot which I find genuine and captivating. And I fell in love with the character L. He totally rocks! The way he walks around bare footed. The way he consumes the candies and sweets. The way he sits on a chair. So different and unique - I think he is cool!
Death Note is a film that is created based on a popular manga. However the plot differs from the original because the manga has a long and winding plot. The story is being cut short to accommodate to the lengthy of film but I like it. It's direct to the point, and the ending is superb.
The film is divided into two, Death Note and Death Note - The Last Name. I watched the 2nd one first while I was in Singapore earlier this month. Then came home and watched the first one on my PC. It's weird to know the ending first, but heck, it was still quite a good watch.
Death Note
Yagami Light is a brilliant college student who, one day, finds a notebook simply titled "Death Note." Inside of this book is a list of rules and details as for the use of the "Death Note." When he realizes the power he holds, he decides he's going to make over the world. He wants to make it into a better place by killing those who do others harm. He has been nicknamed by the police "Kira." L, a brilliant detective who lives in secrecy, rises from the shadows and puts his life on the line trying to capture Light. Both L and Light believe themselves on the side of Justice, and the two match wits trying to show exactly which of them is "good" and which of them is "evil."
Death Note 2
When we last left Light Yagami (Tatsuya Fujiwara), he had just perpetrated the most elaborate and successful demonstration of his Death Note, the supernatural notebook that kills anyone whose name is written inside it. As a result of his clever scheming, Light was invited to join the investigation team chasing the mass murderer known as Kira -- who just so happens to be Light, anonymously using the Death Note to kill scores of criminals daily. However, oddball super detective and avid sugar-lover L (Kinichi Matsuyama) truly suspects that Light is Kira, and he's not shy about letting Light know. During their initial and subsequent meetings, L basically rubs Light's face in his obvious suspicion.
However, instead of avoiding potential capture, Light embraces the chance to work side-by-side with his sweets-loving rival. Now that L and Light/Kira are working together, the stage is set for an epic battle between two insanely smart guys who like to talk a lot. It's a showdown of acrobatic mental geniuses, who use keen reasoning and elaborate mindgames to outwit their wily opponent. Who will be the last name written in the Death Note? Will it be the megalomaniacal Light, or the wacky but honorable L? And will Death Note fans pissed at the fate of the manga characters find this new cinema version to be satisfying?
