Fatty Mixed Rice Restaurant

I can hear some of you saying, "Oh man! First food introduction of the year and it's mixed rice? Nothing more creative than this, Cmate?" Ah yes, it's a mixed rice shop that sells only mixed rice and nothing else. So if you are not a fan of mixed rice, you can skip this post. Though I think 80% of us have mixed rice for lunch or dinner at least once a week.

Fatty Mixed Rice Restaurant is not your ordinary stall that sells a couple of dishes accompanied with soup. It has at least 100 dishes lined up from the front of its shoplot right till the other end. I have never seen so many dishes served at one spot, even the grand buffet at the hotels lose their bet. I have counted the dishes, truly there are at least 100 different types of chicken, fish, meat, vegetables, seafood and even vegetarian cooked in many different ways - steamed, fried, boiled, stewed, grilled, etc.

Spoilt with choices - I feel that way every time I walk into the shop for my meal. If I were to walk from one end to the other, I would not know what to choose for dinner. Usually I just take half a walk down the aisle and my plate is already filled with meat, seafood and vegetables. And looking at my overflowing plate, I thought the prices would be hitting the roof as well but it turned out to be affordable during my visits there. I don't mind having dinner at the place every night since I have yet to try all their dishes after my 10th visit there.

The boss used to sell mixed rice at the street pavement for many donkey years. Due to new rules set by the government, he has rented a shoplot to continue and expand his business. And I think he has done the right thing. Because the next thing I heard, there are many mixed rice shops in Cheras and Puchong that carries the same concept as he does.

The concept: Line up as many food as you can in the shop with as many varieties in terms of types and cooking style. Customers won't get bored and they will be coming back for more from time to time. With the downturn of economy, many more customers would walk in for an affordable meal of their choice of dishes. Moreover, they serve you free homecook soup too!

The restaurant is located at Seri Petaling. You'll see it when you pass by a row of shoplots on your way to Seri Petaling Hotel from Endah Parade. Just look for the signage in the photo above. You would not miss the place! It's swarmed with people every night - housewives, working professionals, family and even the youngsters. I figure it's the next F&B trend.

So if your mom feels like eating out or your housemates are too lazy to cook dinner at home, go grab your favourite dishes at this restaurant. You would not be disappointed! So do your companions. Eat up, people!
