Chouchou Kumo
A light and easy read for those who are seeking for something casual to pass the time. Chouchouc Kumo is a collection of four short stories that highlight important life elements such as romance, friendship, family and love.
Volume One - Butterfly Cloud is a story of three bestfriends. Kiyo and her best guy mates, Kanta and Goma, live in a small quiet island that is seldom visited by anyone in the mainland. It's like a little island of its own without connection with the outside world. The people are comfortable with one another and everyone is expected to succeed what their family does for a living. One day, a stranger moved into the neighbourhood and a girl named Ritsuka joined the local school. She was shy and didn't know anyone. Kiyo took pity on her and forcefully bring her into the group of trio. Eventually, the four of them became the best of friends. But their friendship became rocky when Kiyo and Ritsuka falls for the same guy. Would relationship take the second stairs when it comes to feelings and love?
Volume Two - Middle School First Year (Not Yet Love) is a story about a girl who has a crush for one of the boys in school. She stole something from him when he wasn't in the class and kept it as a treasure. One day, the boy came over and asked if she likes him. Then they went out for their first date. It was during their first date that she discovered he was nothing like the way she has thought he would be. Inconsiderate, rude and annoying - she kept asking herself how did she fell in love with him in the first place. Could it be a mistaken crush? She can't be too sure. And she needs to find out soon.
Volume Three - Middle School Second Year (Man Hater) tells about a pretty girl who has problems with men. She hates them! She doesn't believe in them. She thinks they are all out to get her, to touch her and grope her. So when she felt someone groping her ass one day, she turned around and snapped the hand. It turned out to be one of the guys in her school. That's the turning point of this story - the romance between 'the groper' and 'the girl who hated men'.
Volume Four - Middle School Third Year (The Cherry Blossoms Scatter) highlights the love and hatred of a girl towards her teacher. It's shown in her attitude towards him from the very first day of school. He tries to explain something to her so that she would not have a misperception of him as a person. Seeing that he has put in effort to prove her wrong, she gives in and they become friends. After that, they begin to spend more time together as a teacher and student, then later as friends. Would romance blossom?
Casual read. Simple and easy to understand. Recommended as your short manga series for a sweet evening at home.
