The Dark Knight

And so... just as the title suggested, this movie is one heck of a 'dark' movie. It doesn't highlight the good and bad, the black and white, the round and square - It highlights only one thing: No one is a hero because everyone is a protector of the world at the end of the day. Just that we protect the world in different ways that can be both shocking and astonishing.

Unlike the action hit 'Batman Begins', The Dark Knight didn't appear as another sequel to the award-winning movie. It seemed to me like the entire movie was a standalone of its own and pretty much different from the life of Batman. The characters are less animated. Batman seems a little cold and rude and dark. His girlfriend seems a little out of tune. The Joker, however, is the best of all.

Heath Ledger did a really good manifestation of the Joker character, I almost believe that he was born that way exclusively for the character. His expression, facial portrayals, body language and insane mind were mind-blowing. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins any awards for this role. Great job, Heath!

Overall, the movie was kinda lengthy and a little draggy. My companion actually fell asleep in the midst of the action, so I should know how lengthy it turned out to be. Sometimes a lengthy movie, no matter how good, make the audience tired and it's not good.

A note for parents, if you are bringing your kids to watch this film, just keep in mind that Joker did appear a little freaky throughout the movie. Some kids would most probably think about him when they go home, in their dreams or sleep... so just bear that in mind when you bring your kids to the cinema. Don't want them screaming every night after the movie, do we?
