The Pact

Book Title: The Pact
Author: Jodi Picoult
Amount of Pages: 496

I am hooked! From the very first page to the last, my soul is once again won over by the great masterpieces of Jodi Picoult's. I am slowly beginning to understand her train of thoughts, the signature structure of her novels and how she buries her characters deep into our thoughts. Here's one keypoint I captured from her writings: Her stories is always the elaboration of one incident that dramatically changes the life of someone and the people around him/her. It could be written in 10 pages or less, but she chooses to expand it to a lengthy masterpiece to allow the readers to explore deeper into the hearts of the many involved.

The Pact is yet another wonderful masterpiece that explores the power of love. It's a romance core that involves Chris and Emily who were childhood friends, high school lovers and future-to-be husband & wife. Life was ordinary for both families until the unexpected took place. Emily was found dead with a shot right through the temple of her right head while Chris was at the scene with a gun in his hand. What actually happened?

There is a lot of things that people can do out of love. In this story, it seems like the power of love has been stretched to the extreme and you would wonder if it can get even more powerful than that. Or perhaps you would ask yourself if you would ever experience the kind of love which Chris and Emily did.

As for the writing style, The Pact has been written more like a movie script style. Short scenes, dialogues and clear settings - Perhaps Jodi Picoult was preparing it to hit the big screen. I sure hope not cause her books are fun to be read, not fun to be watched.
