Life Made Simple

Shites! I am still tearing from watching the last episode of Life Made Simple. Knowing me, I have an emotional spirit but a strong physical being who could not cry even when I want to. But the final episode of this drama was really touching, I can't help but cry (a little).

Cast
Roger Kwok - Ding Seung Wong
Jessica Hester Hsuan - Catherine Wong Kei Fung (Lo Por Jai)
Bosco Wong - Michael Chung Tze Chung
Leila Tong - Angel On Kei
Raymond Cho - Lok Kui Shing
Paul Chun - Chung Kam Wing
Lo Yuen Yan - Ding Sau Lin
Hui Siu Hung - Tong Fook Shui
Angela Tong - Lee Siu Ho

I am not a fan of Roger Kwok, yet I cannot deny that his acting skills have shone in this drama as he played the role of a thirty year old man with the IQ of a small little boy. Similar to the previous installation 'Square Pegs', Ah Wong continues to put a smile on my face with his silly speech styles and naive actions.

The plot is really simple. Ah Wong has a childhood friend (Ah Fong) whom he called 'Lo Por Jai', which means 'My Beloved Wife'. Starred by Jessica Hsuan, Ah Fong is a determined woman who would like to be successful one day. She is a career-minded person and focuses on pushing herself to a higher level. However, with Ah Wong around all the time, things seem to be a little messy and chaotic.

What happens when the perfect guy walks into Ah Fong's life? Would she be able to walk away from Ah Wong and lead a love life of her own? Or has she fallen in love with Ah Wong because of how his love for her shines throughout their lives? I am sure you guys know how the story would go, but watching it is still worth it. Life Made Simple is definitely better than the Square Pegs drama. Though both share the same plot, since Life Made Simple was set to be in the modern times, it is easier to relate to the characters and lifestyles.

Nevertheless to say, Jessica Hsuan has improved a lot in her acting skills. She is getting better and better with facial expressions. But I do hope that she would take up more challenging roles in the future because she is always playing the career woman and good lover character. I won't deny that she looks really good as a corporate lady in the suit with neatly tied hair, but there's always more to one person than just one personality right? It's hard to decipher if she is really good in the acting industry if she keeps playing the same role.

While the main actress is Jessica, I also kept an eye on Leila Tong. She is one of the sidekicks in this drama but I was attracted to her because she looked really great with short hair. The curves, the dye and colour really made her stand out in the drama. She is always playing bold outward roles, I wonder if she is really an outspoken person in real life.

In conclusion, this is one heck of a good drama series compared to other TVB productions. It's original, creative and the plot is darn good. Most of all, it brings out a lot of issues such as special needs children, love, friendship, family affairs, kindness and people (in general) in the most subtle way. Three words of appraisal: Entertaining, educative and fun.

Many said that Square Pegs are better, & the ending was very dissapointing. But the truth is, the ending had successfully summarised the whole story. In square pegs, ah wong became dumb because he got beaten, which I think does'nt make sense, while in life made simple, ah wong were born dumb, which quiet reasonable. Life Made Simple tell a very beautiful love story of ah wong and ah fung which had been together since they were young. In my opinion, this series are not just a love/comedy drama, but it also teach us the true meaning of happiness in life. Doing good to others and never hope for any return. Last word from me, AH WONG RULEZZ!!!!
