Wars of In-Laws

Lisa Wang! Yes, I totally love watching her in Chinese dramas. She rocks! She's like another Michelle Yeoh or Geena Davis or Jodie Foster. Don't get me wrong, I am not comparing their personality or charisma. I am talking about their excellent acting skills. Truly, they deserve to be loved by the audience for their individual thumbprints.

Wars of In-Laws has just ended on TV2 yesterday. It's an old production but I truly enjoyed it. The plot is predictable in many ways but the characters are amusing.

Sap-Yat (starred by Myolie) is the daughter of a bandit. Her character is dynamic in many ways. She is stubborn, wants to get things done her way, doesn't listen to others and always think she is right in all that she does. When her family tries to arrange a marriage for her so that Sap-Yat wouldn't need to follow them on the run all the time, she refuses.

One day, their hideout was attacked by officers. Sap-Yat and her family run in separate ways to save their lives. Desperate to escape, she becomes the imposter of an already-fled bride and married into the Ling family. Her husband, Ling Mau-Chun (starred by Bosco), finds out that she is an imposter on the night of the wedding. Instead of bringing her to the King, he helps her to keep the secret. So does the entire Ling family.

However, life is never easy. Sap-Yat's mother-in-law (starred by Lisa Wang) turns out to be a princess. She is very barbaric in her ways. Everyone in the Ling family obeys her and treats her like a queen. When Sap-Yat came into the family, chaos begins.

Will the Ling family ever learn to lead a harmonic life with one another? Will Sap-Yat fall in love with her husband, Mau-Chun the timid guy? Who is Pat Lau Meng, the Chinese Robin Hood that wins Sap-Yat's heart? That's for you to find out.

Meanwhile, enjoy this video clip.
