Evan Almighty

I've just watched Evan Almighty. It's much better than the previous Almighty version of Bruce Almighty, which totally sucks! Evan Almighty is a little less stupid. I prefer Steve Carell compared to Jim Carrey. Add some beard and long hair, Steve Carell actually looks better in a robe. Without them, he looks like Mr. Bean the comical joker.

This film was initially banned in Malaysia but made it through the censorship board at the end of the day - minus lots of censored scenes of course. It's strongly related to religion, specifically Christianity. I managed to grab the DVD for this and discovered a slight difference compared to the one found in cinemas. So if you want the uncensored version, grab the DVDs.

Evan Almighty re-tells the story of Noah in a new fresh modern approach. Starred by Steve Carell, you'll be surprised at how surreal the visuals come across during the flood scene.

Evan Baxter has just been elected to be a congressman and he is very proud of himself for the successful campaign which brought him there. He vows to change the world with his new power and job. One night, he falls on his knees and begins to pray to God for the opportunity to change the world. And God answered his prayer. However, it has to be done God's way and not his.

So God's way it is. With long hair, ponytail beard, smelly robe, chunks of wood, pairs of animals and a supporting family, Baxter answers his calling and builds an ark. And it was a huge one.
