This has got to be one of the most interesting chic lit books I have ever read so far. It's sophisticated but it's damn cool! I feel like a socialite as I read it, going through everything Jamie Whitfield experiences as one of the top TV producer in town. The most exciting moments did not take place in her career in TV network; it took place when she hires a manny (male nanny) to assist her troubled son but ends up falling in love with him who is a few years younger than she is.
In this book, Jamie is portrayed as someone who is trying too hard to fit into the society which she has married into. The silver fine dine gatherings, the front cover photography sessions, butlers and nannies and housekeepers in the picture - it's all too much for Jamie, yet she struggles to fit into the uptown world because she thinks she is required too. That's until Peter Bailey, her manny, becomes part of her life.
Down-to-earth Peter is younger than Jamie, but he portrays a higher level of maturity in this story. He sees her through knowing that she isn't the woman she wanted to be and leads her to be courageous to face the truth: that love no longer ties Jamie and her husband, Philip. He seems to be so patient with Jamie, understanding her and advising her when the needs arise. Even when he knows that they are meant for one another, he is persistent to do it the right way at the right moment.
I'm in love with Peter Bailey as I read more of him between the pages. Holly Peterson did a great job in characterization this time round. Her characters are believable! Definitely, a well researched piece because the settings and happenings are so real, I can imagine it taking place in my mind as I read on through the night. A must-read to all romance story fans.
